Kim Kardashian Slammed As ‘Gross’ And ‘Irresponsible’ For this Singular Act
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to causing a stir. This year alone, she has faced her fair share of criticism, including facing backlash for allowing 12-year-old daughter North West to get a finger piercing, as well as for letting her step out in provocative and age-inappropriate clothing.
And the 45-year-old Skims mogul has come under fire yet again – this time for gifting all four of her children Pomeranian puppies for Christmas!

PETA Slams Kim Kardashian For Buying Her Four Children Their Own Pomeranian Puppy For Christmas
The Kardashians star made no secret of the fact that she gifted daughters North, 12, and Chicago, 7, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 6 Pomeranian puppies for Christmas. She shared a picture of all four puppies on her Instagram Story, with the caption: “Each kid got a puppy.”
The decision to purchase puppies from a breeder rather than adopt from a shelter quickly angered many people, including PETA, who accused Kim of contributing to the homeless animals crisis.

“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a [expletive] shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that. Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous,” PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk reportedly told the Daily Mail after hearing the news.
Newkirk went on to say that the mom-of-four should “call PETA or a local shelter the next time [she] wants to bring an animal into [her] home.” She added that Kim could “make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter,” and could also fund “a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis.”

Kim Kardashian Previously Faced Backlash For Seemingly Keeping Her Dogs In A Cage In The Garage
This isn’t the first time Kim has faced criticism over her treatment of dogs. Back in December 2022, she came under fire after North West posted – and then deleted – a video that showed Kim’s two Pomeranian puppies Sushi and Sake in a cage in the garage. The clip was meant to highlight the dogs’ festive Christmas setup, complete with mini Christmas trees and stockings, but instead sparked outrage…
The dogs shown in the video were previously introduced by Kim as her own Pomeranians. Although North often referred to them as hers and appeared to be closely involved in their care, it was never publicly confirmed that the dogs officially belonged to her. The lack of clarity over ownership of the Pomeranians only fueled further backlash at the time.

At the time, fans were concerned about the apparent living conditions after watching the video, with many calling the situation “sad” and even “animal abuse.” “Is she in the garage?” asked one worried fan in the comments at the time, as another quipped: “You let Sushi out of its pen in the garage today for a half hour?”
Internet Reactions
Of course, the Skkn by Kim founder faced backlash from many more people for gifting her children four puppies. “This is so gross that they are gifting animals,” slammed one Reddit user. “Animals are not presents. And 4 of them? I feel bad for those dogs,” echoed a second, as a third agreed: “This is awful because it will inspire people to give pets as gifts which is never a good idea.”
“That’s about as irresponsible of a gift as I can imagine,” concurred a fourth, as a fifth declared: “Animals aren’t gifts. You don’t just give an animal to a child. These are living and breathing creatures that can’t help themselves. They’re not gifts.” “Can we stop treating animals as accessories?” asked a sixth, as a seventh exclaimed: “Pets are not toys! This is beyond gross.”

“Pets are disposable to her,” thought an eighth. A ninth also felt the same way, adding: “Pets seem to be disposable for a lot of celebrities. They don’t see them as the 10+ year commitment they are.”
Many others referenced the previous videos of the family’s dogs, with a tenth saying: “She’s such a vile evil woman to constantly do this to animals. Remember that clip of all those animals in the garage in cages? Animals are not toys. Animals are not accessories.” “Isn’t their other dog confined to a small area in the garage?” asked an eleventh.
A twelfth enquired: “How long until they get rid of these poor dogs?” “She’s trash for this,” a thirteenth bluntly said, as a fourteenth simply added: “Poor puppies.”
A fifteenth also took aim at the breed choice, writing: “And not a big goofy, family (I know they’d never go ‘shelter’) lab/boxer/poodle/retriever type…a designer toy dog. Not a snuggler, stick collector, long walk/adventure type. Just a dog that fits into a million-dollar Birkin.”
